American Coed Pageants are not “beauty” pageants. American Coed Pageants emphasize so much more than beauty! Girls compete in 3 required competitions, Formalwear/Eveningwear, Introduction, and Interview. In all three required competitions, the girls are judged on personality, poise, and appearance. Appearance in this case does not mean facial beauty. It is the girl’s “overall” appearance; how well put together she appears. Do her clothes fit properly? Are the clothes age appropriate? Is the outfit appropriate for the respective competition (i.e., interview, formalwear)? American Coed Pageants emphasize age appropriateness. Girls between 3—12 years old are PROHIBITED from wearing make-up in the required contests. Hair pieces are discouraged. Even in the Coed division (college age girls), contestants may not wear dresses with slits above the knee. There is no swimwear competition. There are many other optional areas of competition for girls to be recognized and rewarded. American Coed Pageants recognize girls for academic achievement, community service, talent, modeling, and more. Over $500,000 in cash, prizes, and scholarships are awarded annually to girls from all over the country! |
